The Story of the Church at Work

World Relief believes that the Church must be the “hands of Jesus.” Matthew 5:16 says: “…let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” And James 1:22 says: “Do not merely listen to the word…Do what it says.” We believe local church congregations offer hope and life; that the church offers the best context for working with the poor in overcoming their lack of opportunity. The local church with its emphasis on restored relationships can meet spiritual, social and physical needs. We believe showing suffering people that Christians care and that the Church wants to make a lasting impact on their lives is a powerful expression of our faith and love for God.World Relief empowers, equips and strengthens churches to serve their communities, enabling them to act as beacons of hope to their people and to spread the life-changing power of Jesus Christ. Church-centered, grassroots initiatives tackle entrenched and intertwined problems of poverty – and people experience transformation in their lives, in their families, in their churches, and in their communities.

Reach

World Relief is writing a story of reaching out. Distance and lack of awareness create barriers between suffering people and those who are eager to help. World Relief is the bridge that allows you to reach out and touch the lives of those who need your help the most.

World Relief is writing a story of Christian response to people in times of disaster. War, earthquakes, hurricanes…every year, man-made conflicts and natural disasters devastate lives. World Relief is your hands to the hurting, mobilizing and equipping local churches to be God’s agents of healing and restoration.

World Relief is writing a story of investing in the future of marginalized people and their communities. We train and educate people to help themselves and then pass on their newly-acquired knowledge and skills to others.

World Relief is writing a story of transformation. When local churches engage themselves in their communities, true transformation takes place at every level – physically, socially and spiritually. The heart of our mission is to create lasting impact by strengthening local churches to serve those who are hurting. Our Mission Statement

The Mission of World Relief, as originated within the National Association of Evangelicals, is to work with, for and from the Church to relieve human suffering, poverty and hunger worldwide in the name of Jesus Christ.
