We tell stories for a variety of reasons – to pass family history from one generation to the next, to engage the listener at a deeper level than is possible through a treatise on a subject, and because it allows us to describe the complexities of life.

Humans have been telling stories for millenia. Some cultures today still use storytelling as the primary way of communicating things of significance.

PRESS RELEASE: Families from the Former Soviet Union (FSU) now have another way to reunite with family members. The refugee sponsorship program, also known as the Affidavit of Relationship (AOR) Program for people from the Former Soviet Union is temporarily re-opened for new applicants through September 15, 2013. I was recently doing a scripture study on some of the attributes of God. My journey took me from God's eternality to His holiness; from His sovereignty to His righteousness. For some reason, I lingered in my study on God's mercy and realized afresh how much I daily experience His tender mercies.

The past 12 months have been at times a blur of activity. In the last three months of 2012 alone, World Relief Minnesota resettled more than twice as many refugees as the same period in 2011. New Refugee Life Minisitries Coordinator Named

All of us at World Relief Minnesota are sad to say goodbye to Melissa Keane who has faithfully served the Lord, the refugee community, and our church teams as our Refugee Life Ministries (RLM) coordinator. Melissa will be leaving her role at World Relief to be a stay-at-home mom, and plans to continue as an active RLM volunteer. While we are saddened by Melissa’s upcoming departure, we also rejoice that God has provided a talented and energetic new RLM Coordinator. Jessica Wills is a graduate of St. Cloud State University (SCSU) with an educational background in Sociology and International Relations. She has worked and volunteered with Lutheran Social Services in the area of employment and new refugee arrival social services; started the Sojourner ministry to refugees at her church, Calvary Community, in St Cloud; and was a missional team leader with Campus Crusade working with international students at SCSU. She has also been a member of the Refugee and Immigrant Equity Coalition (RIEC) in St Cloud, working to bridge the gap between the community and refugees/immigrants.
